University of Minnesota Physicians established itself as the leader in reproductive medicine back in 1983 when Dr. Theodore Nagel helped start the first in vitro fertilization (IVF) program in Minnesota. Since that time our infertility specialists have provided comprehensive, coordinated care in the diagnosis and treatment of female reproductive disorders. From initial infertility consultations and evaluations to offering a broad range of surgical services, we’ve helped thousands of patients overcome the most challenging causes of infertility.

Learn about the RMC's in vitro fertilization success rates, and read more about IVF success rates and how to interpret the results

A comparison of clinic success rates may not be meaningful because patient medical characteristics, treatment approaches and entrance criteria for ART may vary from clinic to clinic.

Board-certified Reproductive Endocrinologists

At University of Minnesota Physicians, we're unique in that our team includes medical experts who are all board certified in obstetrics and gynecology with the subspecialty board certification in reproductive endocrinology and infertility. An infertility specialist can recommend evaluations, advanced treatments and medications that may not be available from your OB/GYN or other specialist.

When do I seek help from an infertility specialist?

If you have been struggling to get pregnant for more than a year, or are over 35 and have been trying for six months, it’s highly recommended that you seek out the advice of a physician specially trained in reproductive endocrinology (infertility specialist). Properly identifying the cause of infertility is crucial to receiving the most cost-effective and timely treatment. Our goal is to help you avoid unnecessary procedures or lose precious time by continuing to do testing and/or treatments with limited usefulness.
