Clinic Overview

The Gynecologic Cancer Clinic at University of Minnesota Medical Center, Fairview's mission is a straightforward one: to provide excellent care to women with gynecologic malignancies through a multi·disciplinary approach.

Patients and referring physicians who choose the University of Minnesota Physicians benefit from the collaboration of an interdisciplinary team of doctors and nurses who focus on treating a single disease. Our team meets regularly to discuss each patient's treatment, routinely seeking the advice and opinions of our experts in gynecologic pathology and radiation oncology. Naturally, we work with each patient's primary physician as a key member of the care team.

Treatments

The Gynecologic Cancer Clinic focuses on providing women the gynecologic care they need, specializing in the management of complex gynecologic problems like cancer. To that end, we offer the following services:

• Evaluation of ovarian masses or cysts
• Post menopausal bleeding
• Endometrial hyperplasia
• Known or suspected gynecologic cancer
• Abnormal Pap smears
  o Colposcopy
  o LASER
  o LEEP
  o Fertility sparing surgery

Counseling and screening are available for women at risk for:

• Ovarian cancer
• Endometrial cancer
• Gynecological complications of breast cancer therapy
• Cervical cancer
• Gestational trophoblastic disease or molar pregnancy

Medical and surgical care offered includes:

• Minimally invasive surgery/laparoscopy
• Fertility-sparing surgery
• Radical pelvic surgery for the treatment of ovarian, cervical or vulvar cancer
• Radiation therapy
• Chemotherapy
