Each of these weight loss operations employs the minimally invasive (laparoscopic) surgical technique, which is widely regarded as the safest, least invasive method for performing these complex weight-loss surgeries. Before meeting with our experts, we recommend viewing our online weight-loss surgery seminar for Fairview Southdale Hospital or University of Minnesota Medical Center, Fairview. These seminars will give you an introductory overview of the weight-loss surgery process at each location and explain the different types of weight-loss surgeries performed:

8th Annual Bariatric Education Days

The Bariatric Education 2012 program will focus on the postoperative care of the bariatric surgical patient. The first day will provide a primer on laparoscopic sleeve gastrectomy and an advanced laparoscopic gastric banding mini-course. The second day will focus on complex topics in the post-operative care of the bariatric patient including clinical case presentations and discussion.
