Vaginal Cancer

What is vaginal cancer? It is cancer that occurs in the tissue of the vagina or birth canal; usually in the cells that line the vaginal wall. Although several cancers can spread to the vagina, cancer rarely originates there.

How often does it occur? According to the American Cancer Society, slightly more than 2,600 women are diagnosed annually in the United States and 840 die from the disease.
