Fertility Cost Sharing Program
Couples qualifying for our Fertility Cost Sharing Program (FCSP) will receive, for a fixed fee, up to three egg retrievals in an attempt to become pregnant. If the couple does not achieve a successful pregnancy, defined as a live birth plus thirty days, they will be refunded the majority of the fixed fee. The FCSP was developed because many infertile couples had to choose between trying invitro fertilization (IVF) or adopting. If a couple tried IVF and it failed, they could not afford to adopt. This program was designed to give them a chance to try IVF, and if unsuccessful, still have financial resources to pursue adoption. Micromanipulation, such as intracytoplasmic sperm injection and assisted hatching, are included in the fixed fee. The cost of drugs used to stimulate the ovaries and the prescreening required are not included in this fee.
Patients considering IVF are asked to attend an informational seminar. These usually take place one evening a month starting at 6:30 p.m. At these meetings, the IVF procedure is discussed, its risks pointed out, and the likelihood of a successful outcome presented. The various FCSP's are discussed, and you will have an opportunity to meet the doctors and some of the staff. There is also time for questions and answers to problems that may be specific to your situation. This informational session is a requirement if a couple chooses to proceed with IVF at RMC. There is no cost associated with this meeting. If you are interested, call Rosie Drechnik at 612-372-7024 to register for the next available seminar. You will also receive an informational packet to review prior to the meeting.
