Breast Cancer Breakthroughs Are a Way of Life with University of Minnesota Physicians

Oct 01, 2005
The Breast Center at the University of Minnesota Medical Center, Fairview is known for combining personalized, compassionate patient care with a reputation for leadership in innovation. Our physicians have access to the latest technological advances, often playing a role in developing them.

One example of our innovation in action comes from University of Minnesota Physicians specialist Todd Tuttle, MD. Dr. Tuttle has pioneered the use of MRI to screen and diagnose women at high risk for breast cancer. Thanks to Dr. Tuttle's groundbreaking work, doctors are now able to find evidence of breast cancer where they would otherwise have missed it. With more accurate diagnostic techniques, physicians can detect breast cancer earlier and patients can begin treatment before it spreads.

Seeing patients at the Breast Center, Dr. Tuttle is part of a multidisciplinary team focused on breast cancer diagnosis and treatment. Our physicians are members of the University of Minnesota Cancer Center, one of only 39 facilities in the nation recognized as a Comprehensive Care Center by the National Cancer Institute. At the Breast Center, patients have access to leading physicians and the latest technology in an environment of coordinated, comprehensive care.
