Bio Statement
Peter K. Lee, M.D. is the Director of the Dermatologic Surgery and Laser Center. He is an expert in cutaneous oncology of melanoma and non-melanoma skin cancers, laser surgery, and other cosmetic procedures. Dr. Lee also directs the Melanoma and Pigmented Lesion Clinic. He is active in clinical and laboratory research and is the Residency Program Director for the Dermatology Residency Training Program. Dr. Lee joined the faculty in February 1999 as a full-time dermatologic surgeon.
Dr. Lee was born in Seoul, Korea, and grew up in Bloomington, Minnesota. He received his undergraduate training at Carleton College in Northfield, Minnesota, where he majored in chemistry. He enrolled in the M.D./Ph.D. combined program at the University of Minnesota where he received his Doctor of Philosophy degree in Microbiology in 1991 and his Doctor of Medicine degree in 1993.
Dr. Lee is Board certified in Dermatology by the American Board of Dermatology. Currently, he is an Associate Professor of Dermatology at the University of Minnesota with teaching and clinical responsibilities at the Fairview University Medical Center and the Minneapolis Veterans Affairs Medical Center. He practices Mohs micrographic surgery, laser surgery, and cosmetic surgery. Dr. Lee has many research interests in melanoma and other skin cancers.
