A team approach
Our doctors work in teams focused on a specific tumor type, such as breast cancer, lung cancer or prostate cancer. Your team might include a cancer specialist, surgeon, radiation oncologist, pathology specialist and nurse coordinator. Teams meet regularly to review your progress and adjust your treatment as needed. Our cancer care team also can connect you with dieticians, social workers, patient advocates and support groups.
Convenient, coordinated care
You’ll receive expert, compassionate care through your entire cancer experience, from diagnosis to treatment to long-term follow-up or palliative care. Many appointments take place at the Masonic Cancer Clinic, which includes laboratory, chemotherapy and pharmacy services and offers easy access to diagnostic imaging. You can also see our cancer doctors at Fairview Maple Grove Medical Center. We offer specialized clinics for cancer pain management, radiation, surgery, long-term follow-up, and palliative care.

Our doctors conduct research as members of the Masonic Cancer Center -- one of only two comprehensive cancer centers in Minnesota – bringing together experienced academic researchers and clinicians to focus on cancer. Teams work across disciplines to develop the next generation of therapies for specific types of cancer. You’ll benefit from the most current diagnostic technologies and treatments.
Leading research
The National Cancer Institute (NCI) first designated the Masonic Cancer Center, University of Minnesota, a Comprehensive Cancer Center in 1998. The Masonic Cancer Center is one of only 40 institutions in the United States to hold this designation, and is the only one in the Twin Cities area. The distinction is awarded only to institutions that make ongoing significant advances in cancer research, treatment and education.
