Mission and Vision
Neurosurgery Services has a rich tradition of providing excellent patient care for complex neurosurgical conditions, while maintaining an exceptional environment for training the next generation of neurosurgeons and advancing the field of neurosurgery.
Improving patient care is central to our mission. We strive to discover new treatments and innovative therapies for the real-life challenges our patients face in the emerging subspecialties of neurosurgery:
- Deep brain stimulation
- Multidisciplinary treatment of cerebrovascular disease
- Minimally invasive techniques for complex spinal and skull-base surgery
- Stereotactic radiosurgery using Gamma Knife®, X-KnifeTM, Tomotherapy® and other sophisticated radiation treatment devices
- Molecular therapies for treatment of brain tumors and many previously-untreatable neurological diseases
We seek thoughtful, technical excellence to skillfully apply the complex techniques of neurosurgery after careful consideration of each patient's situation.
Striving to achieve clinical and academic excellence, University of Minnesota Medical Center is consistently ranked as one of the top Neurology/Neurosurgery centers in the country by US News and World Report. We will continue the pursuit of excellence while upholding our legacy — with the hope of bringing peace of mind for our patients and the physicians who refer them.
