The Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) at University of Minnesota Amplatz Children’s Hospital provides care to critically ill infants, children and adolescents, and was the first PICU in the United States. The Pediatric Risk of Mortality (PRISM) score – a national ranking– indicates a greater survival rate for children who receive care at University of Minnesota Amplatz Children’s Hospital’s PICU than those who receive care at other PICUs. Our PICU staff uses a team approach to care for children and collaborates with various pediatric subspecialists and multidisciplinary experts.
