Interstitial Cystitis

Treatments

There is no cure for interstitial cystitis, but treatments can help most people feel better. They include distending, or inflating, the bladder; bathing the inside of the bladder with a medicine solution; oral medicines and in rare cases, surgery. For most patients, a combination of treatments for symptoms is the best approach.

Some treatments you and your doctor may consider are:

  • Nutritional counseling
  • Medication
  • Physical therapy
  • And more depending on each individual patients symptoms.
