Polycystic Kidney Disease



Overview

A hereditary disease, people with polycystic kidney disease have cysts that form on their kidneys causing them to become enlarged. Children with parents with PKD have a 50% chance of inheriting the disease. . Most of this treatment is done by a nephrologist, but we treat polycystic kidney patients if surgical intervention is necessary.

The goal of treatment for polycystic kidney disease is to control symptoms and prevent complications. High blood pressure may be difficult to control, but control of it is the most important aspect of treatment. .
