The University of Minnesota Physicians Vascular Surgery and Interventional Radiology Services specialize in endovascular and open surgical management of aortic, peripheral artery, and carotid disease; and minimally invasive treatment for vein disease.

A concentration of expertise

Specialists with Vascular Surgery and Interventional Radiology Services at University of Minnesota Physicians and University of Minnesota Medical Center, Fairview, are an integrated group providing cutting-edge, evidence-based, patient-centered care to individuals with non-cardiac vascular disease and many other conditions. These include diseases of blood vessels (arteries, veins and lymph vessels), as well as blood disorders that affect circulation and other conditions that benefit from minimally invasive therapy.

We provide comprehensive coordinated care and offer endovascular procedures and open surgical repair in addition to minimally invasive therapies. Our practice also includes a full range of treatment for varicose veins and venous disease ranging from conservative therapy to medically necessary minimally invasive treatments and cosmetic vein procedures.

An integrated model

Our University of Minnesota Physicians’ specialists have expertise in vascular surgery and interventional radiology. Patients will receive the highest quality care by the expert most experienced in their particular condition.

Our team of specialists practice in the same locations making it possible for our patients to see the right provider at each visit. Also, our academic practice enables our patients to have access to the most advanced and difficult-to-find treatment options including the newest medical therapies and technologies.

Our staff is dedicated to providing the highest quality care in a professional atmosphere. All patients are followed comprehensively, and outcomes are recorded in our prospective database with quarterly data analysis and continuous quality improvement.

Minimally invasive interventions

In the past, surgery for patients with serious illness and/or multiple risk factors was not possible. Our vascular and interventional specialists are changing that reality through the increasingly successful use of minimally invasive procedures and endovascular surgery. These methods require only small or no incisions, cause minimal pain, and result in faster recovery and fewer complications.
